MelikaM

Taking a break from today's LFW postings, to tell you about a new clothing brand that the girls from Felicities introduced me to this week!

The designer Melika Imora started designing her collection following a career in designing for top high street brands. Her extensive knowledge in the fashion industry has resulted in the MelikaM collection being both wearable and fun!

There are lots of pieces that I would love to own! Check out the MelikaM website - www.melikam.com

At LFW I saw that  Kate Nash had been wearing lots of the Felicities designers! The girls at Felicities informed me that she and her stylist had selected a couple of MelikaM pieces. One of which was a yellow coat that I love! See image below -

Jeffrey Michael AW12

Having heard of Jeffrey Michael previously through some of his work with artists such as Jessie J and Diana Vickers, I was excited to go and view his début collection at St Martins Lane Hotel.

His début collection is inspired by silhouettes of  the golden age of old Hollywood and when looking at some of the pieces, I could easily imagine women like Elizabeth Taylor wearing them!

The collection included both long evening dresses, short flirty dresses for the younger girl (Dionne Bromfield was wearing one to the presentation, and looked stunning) and statement corsets.

My favourite pieces included a corset embellished with little green army men and also a light up dress made of keyboard keys - which I overheard took five months to make and includes Lady Gaga lyrics!

Jeffrey Michael is a designer that I will definitely be keeping my eye on!

Francesca Marotta AW12

Next up,  the dramatic Francesca Marotta AW12 Collection ' Amore della mia Vita ' at Goldsmiths Hall!

This high drama collection was almost entirely black with the occasional flashes of red, and a touch of neon jewellery. The Gothic/ Religious inspiration was amazing and included lots of textures such as lace, wool, leather and velvet.

Lako Bukia AW12 'Broken Mirrors'

Another stunning collection from the amazing Lako Bukia!

Her AW12 collection 'Broken Mirrors' takes inspiration from the fear that breaking a mirror causes bad luck. Lako Bukia took the idea of being afraid to look at broken mirrors and interpreted it into the fashion world stating that 'I am facing myself in broken mirrors, challenging my fears and sowing that I am really strong. My AW12 designs are for strong women, who are not afraid to face their fears and everything that comes along the way. They know in life they can fall apart  but will have the strength to get back to normal'

The collection was predominantly black and silver, featuring luxurious fabrics such as silk, leather and chiffon.

The show-piece dress featuring a broken mirror was stunning and I loved the glitter bomb at the end of the catwalk!

Jasper Garvida

It's about time I started to write up some of my favourite shows and presentations from London Fashion Week!

Starting with Jasper Garvida!

His stunning AW12 collection drew inspiration from Russian constructivism and is entitled ' Revolutionnaire Situation de la Forme'

The collection included beautiful figure hugging dresses, gorgeous tailoring, plunging necklines and gold detailing.

My favourite pieces were towards the end of the show. Stunning evening dresses with gold embroidery, thick gold chains and gold shoulder tassels.
