London Collections: Men - Fashion Round Up

The highly anticipated third installment of London Collections: Men saw a fresh and exciting combination of some of the UK’s most established designers alongside new and emerging British design talent to create an inspiring array of shows and presentations that made London Collections: Men a prominent date in the Fashion Industry’s diary for a long time to come.

The Agi and Sam SS14 collection held at Victoria House demonstrated an eye-catching display of sleek colour-blocking in hues of aqua blue and navy as well as ochre and burnt orange. This was contrasted with cool greys, white and black to create a monochromatic backdrop which emphasised the hits of colour. Inspired by fabrics based on British Transport System upholstery and industrial flooring, the collection included a combination of woven black suits with white speckles and horizontally striped, colourful geometric prints against a cool grey background. All elements combined created a collection of juxtaposition with both monochromatic and colourful elements, prints and plain designs and classic tailoring against culottes, tunics and oversized jackets. Although the designs may include starkly different elements the overall aesthetic was concise and effortlessly cool.

Meanwhile Ada Zanditon and Nik Thakkar presented their debut collection Ada + Nik at St Martin’s Lane Hotel which showcased their ‘Greco-Roman Punk’ inspired capsule collection.  A stunning visual reference that brings to life both Nik Thakkar’s love for monochrome and minimalist luxe whilst incorporating Ada Zanditon’s unique design style, the collection includes a stunning leather jacket aptly named ‘Caesar’, beautifully constructed open-back dress shirts as well as an exceptional human hair, bamboo and calf leather jersey tee. Not to mention the gorgeous male models showcasing the design duo’s accompanying swimwear also. VV Brown also made a guest appearance and sang three of her new songs which was a fantastic way to end the event for such an inspiring collection. We already can’t wait to see what Ada + Nik have in store for next season!

Spencer Hart presented a striking collection on Sunday evening at The Old Sorting Office. At first glance the collection seems ultimately classic however it is clear to see designer Nick Hart’s ability to add a modern edge to the most classic of styles. With a James Brown as the soundtrack for the show, the collection overflowed with soul and sophistication. Key pieces to note included soft shouldered jackets in a selection of colours including white, midnight blue and black as well as influences from traditional Arabian dress with tunic shirt placed under bold tailoring.

On the second day of LC:M, footwear designer Pinucci London showcased their ‘Clarges St’ collection ‘For Him’ at the stunning STK restaurant on Strand. The collection included loafers, Monk shoes and Brogues in the highest quality Italian and Spanish leather and suede. Whilst timeless in design, the shoes are given a modern appeal with the most beautiful colours that we are seeing on the runway for SS14.  This includes soft grey, navy, deep purple and cornflower blue. These designs simply contain a timeless aesthetic that make them so easy to wear. One thing is for sure, these shoes are a perfect accompaniment to your SS14 wardrobe.

David Bowie at the V&A

Hello all!

Tabitha and I were fortunate enough to be invited to see the 'David Bowie is' exhibition at the V&A!

While we've been dedicated fans for years, this exhibition was stunningly curated in a way that could turn a non-believer; from stage sets, to outfits, to his art, the exposition immerses the crowd into the fantasia that is David Bowie.

It is clear that Bowie was much more than a singer, but a performer: a true artist. This vast retrospective delves into the method behind his madness, showcasing his instruments and personal lyric books, all going as far back as the sixties when he had just started playing music in The Konrads.

So, how did David Bowie come up with all those odd phrases he used in his songs? We were surprised to know that he and a friend created a computer program in order to spout his lyrics! Bowie would type phrases, passages and literature into the computer and the program would choose words at random until he found a sentence he liked.

As a whole, this exhibit was crafted in such a way that left visitors (including us!) absolutely stunned and we would recommend it to anyone!

Hello all! We've been really busy and hope everyone has had a great Easter!

We can all agree that the weather in London has been an absolute coin toss - one day it's sunny and beautiful, the next it's snowing and grey.

Here are some everyday items of clothing that can shape-shift around this odd weather -
